Breccolo
The Breccolo product category originated from the desire to obtain wines by aromatizing them with dried grapes of "minor" vines once cultivated in Tuscany. Nowadays, wines are made using a limited number of grape varieties - compared to the availability that the Tuscan territory offers.
What happened to most fruit species also happened for the vine, and thus the cultivation of the most productive grapes was enhanced, setting aside many varieties - because they had alternate productions or they required more care in cultivation.
Lombardi e Visconti, which has always been attentive to often forgotten productions or to biodiverse or endangered fruits, believes that preserving genetic varieties (as well as fulfilling the very important task of protecting biodiversity) also allows to facilitate cultivation in disadvantaged territories from an agricultural perspective.
