Caseificio di Mario – Pecorino
Caseificio Di Mario is a small family-run company located in Pienza, an area that is well known for its world-class Pecorino. Caseificio Di Mario’s small production is based predominantly on sheep, exclusively on local milk and on a wide choice of maturations of the highest quality.
The company originated from an idea by ‘Babbo Carlo’, who spent years searching for high-quality cheeses to age in the cellar and showcase in Mario’s shop. However, due to his discerning taste, he struggled to find suitable options. Consequently, Mario’s family made the decision to become Pecorino producers themselves. They benefited from the expertise of a skilled cheese maker who shared his exceptional knowledge with them.
Now Mario’s son Renzo takes care of the production while his sisters Elisa and Irene take care of the commercial activity – in the heart of Pienza.
